“Wow! That escalated quickly!” That is what we all thought here at WapitiWear when we posted our Top Elk Broadhead test. I know what you are thinking, not another broadhead test!? No, we are not shooting layers of cardboard. No, we are not shooting a car door or steel barrel. No, we are not shooting ballistics gel to see how cool it looks. This test is better than the rest and provides actual hunting situational information. We all know that all heads on the market will successfully kill any animal with a well placed shot right? Well as hunters we understand that we cannot control the situation 100% and that things happen, causing less than favorable hits. So why not test that? Elk have thick wire-like hair that will dull the best of blades. Also, elk have dense bones like swine, so what head is going to give you the best chance of recovery if one is hit? Well that is exactly what we want to find out.
Test Scope: Three heads will be shot into a pork shoulder bone molded in ballistics gel then wrapped in wet tanned elk hide. This will show us the performance of each head when passed though dulling hide and hair, then meat, then the dreaded shoulder bone. Here is the best part! Each of the three heads will be shot out of three separate bow setups.

2)50# Bowtech Realm X @26.5” and 463gn arrow w/ 21.5% FOC
3)65# setup (TBD) arrow < 400gn w/ < 8% FOC
